Joshua Christian Childress is a Los Angeles-based saxophonist, composer, educator, and bandleader whose music blends modern jazz with influences from gospel, hip-hop, R&B, and contemporary music. Known for his soulful sound and dynamic approach to improvisation, Childress has performed alongside artists and musicians including John Legend, Kelly Rowland, Aloe Blacc, Kirk Franklin, Lalah Hathaway, FINNEAS, Imagine Dragons, Kenny Burrell, Keyon Harrold, Christian Sands, and others.
As the leader of the Joshua Christian Childress Quartet, he presents original compositions and reimagined repertoire with an energetic, expressive, and forward-thinking approach to jazz. His artistry reflects a deep respect for the jazz tradition while embracing the sounds and influences that have shaped his musical journey.
